Who Am I?
I am a professional software developer who specializes in web site development. I have over 17 years of experience developing business applications, ranging from Office automation projects to high availablility database design.
Biography
I have been using the Internet since 1991 on command line connections. Using DOS based computers I used Wide Area Information Systems (WAIS), gopher, veronica, archie, and FTP to communicate and share ideas and programs.
Since 1993 I have developed websites and other communication projects using my detailed knowledge of web protocols and procedures.
Over the years my experience has provided me with extensive markup knowledge and understanding that can not be duplicated with software products. I can build websites from scratch using just a notepad or simple text editor.
There is no substitute for real experience
I possess many years of experience designing graphical and non-graphical interfaces. I have developed interfaces on the Macintosh, Windows, Palm and Web.
Being acutely aware of the problems that people have using computer interfaces, I am sensitive to the needs of the end users and to this end I believe that the user experience is critical to the success of the project. The interface has special requirements for its development, and is not something to be taken lightly. Often the user interface is the only view that the end user has of the complete system and therefore is judged accordingly. My interface design experience makes me uniquely qualified to create interfaces which are elegant in look and feel, intuitive to use and easy to modify. In fact it has been my goal to make the computer experience transparent to the end user.
I enjoy web application development as it allows me to express my creative side as well as my programming expertise. Over the years I have used many languages to develop applications including: PHP, ASP, Java, JDBC, Perl, C/C++, SQL and others.
